John Wilson, of luxury John and Peter Catering has a long association with Armani. Though it’s not perhaps the kind of association you might think. And this is a story I don’t think has been told elsewhere. I worked with John quite some time ago; the company was small and we all worked pretty hands on. John would work often with the team in the artisan factory kitchen in the production of the smoked salmon and sometimes he would be wearing Armani; always elegant, not quite your usual kitchen garb. I remember those beautiful Armani linen pants well. I suspect though it was not because of this (previously untold) story, that John and Peter were chosen to cater for tonight’s event. Their tasty morsels were just the right match for the celebrity crowd that attended the Giorgio Armani Myer Sydney beauty launch.
Yes I think you are getting the idea that although John and Peter did the elegant catering for the Giorgio Armani Myer beauty launch party, the event wasn’t really about the food, or the Laurent Perrier Champagne either for that matter.
For one, we got to check out the new beauty range and some of us were lucky enough to get our makeup done.
Overheard: Giorgio Armani is “more understated than Chanel” disclosed the Australian head of Loreal, Luca Guillot Boschetti
As a (perhaps former) Chanel girl, I had to try it out for myself. I was so spoilt when my makeup was done by none other than Australian national makeup artist Grant Power.
And he has even booked me in for another special makeup treat on my birthday in two weeks. Yippee.
Yet perhaps the best fun of the night was trying out the Giorgio Armani perfume range. My choice of the night – Giorgio Armani Club Amethyste – was sprayed all over me. So I went home smelling all spicy and exotic. Aha! Fun!
