There is a lot going on in the seaside city of Newcastle of late. The last couple of years have seen the quiet emergence of an exciting food and bar scene headed up by chefs and restaurateurs who are passionate about what they do. Down on the Honeysuckle boardwalk overlooking this historic city’s fantastic working harbour is Newcastle’s newest offering -The Landing Bar & Kitchen. With an excellent food and bar offering anchored by attentive service and a relaxed, casual vibe The Landing aims to set a new benchmark in the region.
The Landing Bar and Kitchen is the result of a new partnership and shared vision between well-known Novocastrian publicans Ty and Julianne Burford and Hunter Valley winemaker / restaurateur Andrew and Lisa Margan. In addition to this combined strong background in hospitality experience, The Landing boasts a talented line up of hospitality professionals.
Operations Manager Zac Davies (from the Merrivale Group and Beresford Hotel) will oversee the venue and lead the team at The Landing.
Head Chef Michael Robinson (formerly Becasse and Quarter 21, Sydney) heads up the kitchen team who bring a wealth of international experience to Newcastle, creating a seasonally inspired menu with a modern Mediterranean focus. The Landing menu options allow you to graze at the bar, share plates in the lounge or enjoy relaxed, casual dining in the restaurant.
Restaurant Manager Heather Moore (formerly of Cutler & Co. and most recently Bacchus, Newcastle) will bring to The Landing her attentive and polished service style delivered in a relaxed, welcoming manner.
Sommelier Trent Alder (formerly Bacchus) has put together a creative cocktail list and boutique beer selection. Andrew Margan presents a carefully crafted wine cellar celebrating the excellent variety of wines available ‘up the road in the Hunter’, as well as a few outsiders included to balance it out.
A complete refurbishment by Squillace Architects (Manly Pavillion, Hugo’s etc) has given the former Isobar space a relaxed, casual feel where guests can enjoy inside and al fresco spaces. The design gives The Landing a moody, bar vibe at night and a fresh, breezy feel for day, taking full advantage of it’s prime waterfront location.
The Landing opened its doors in late September, and officially launched October 4.
The bar and lounge is open 7 days a week from 11am – midnight, (Sunday 10pm.) The Restaurant opens for lunch and dinner, 7 days and breakfast on weekends.
