APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR “YOUNG CULINARY ACHIEVER SCHOLARSHIP” FOR 3RD YEAR CULINARY APPRENTICES
UK WORK EXPERIENCE WITH BRETT GRAHAM @ LEDBURY
Submissions are now open for The Aqua Dining Group’s annual “Young Culinary Achiever Scholarship, open to 3rd year apprentices who are undertaking trade training in commercial cookery.
Administered by HTN and established by Bill Drakopoulos, owner of the Aqua Dining Group of restaurants, the scholarship recognises young culinary students with a commitment and passion to excel in the hospitality industry. The prize offers work experience in London with renowned Australian chef Brett Graham at his 2 star Michelin restaurant Ledbury, $1,000 spending money, airfares and accommodation.
HTN will supervise the judging process down to three top applicants, each of whom will engage in a cook off at Aqua Dining Restaurant on the evening of 5th November. The trio will meet with Aqua Dining’s Head Chef, Anthony Redondi to discuss and each design an entrée that will be cooked and judged by Bill’s highly experienced panel:
• Simon Thomsen, who reviews restaurants for THE DAILY TELEGRAPH is a regular guest on Radio 702 and also writes for DELICIOUS and MASTER CHEF Magazines.
• Lyndey Milan, food and wine broadcaster, author, and presenter
• Kurt Von Buren, a regular national and international cuisine judge and member of the World Association of Chef Societies
The winner will be announced that evening, and the apprentices’ entrees will be served in a three way drop to guests at the award dinner. All 3rd year commercial cookery apprentices are invited to submit directly now. Submissions close on Monday 8 October 2012.
