It was off to another party this week for Inside Cuisine and this time with MasterChef personality, restaurateur and TV personality, Gary Mehigan, in the Citibank offices Sydney. He has been appointed ambassador for the Citibank Dining Program for the next twelve months. We even noticed him on a Citibank billboard driving home today.
The Citibank Dining Program comes as an automatic benefit to all Citibank cardholders and entitles cardholders to a free bottle of award winning wine every time they dine at partner restaurants and pay with their Citibank card.
Each of the wines available have been hand-selected and are highly endorsed by independent wine experts including James Halliday, Good Wine Guide, Epicure and Winestate magazine, amongst others. Every wine selected has been awarded 90pts or more by James Halliday or more than 4 stars by Epicure or Winestate. The offer, launched in 2011, is totally unrelated to points earned on the card making it the only rewards program of its kind in the country.
“Traditionally, customers are comfortable with the idea of redeeming reward points with their bank for household items. Very few would expect to receive a free bottle award winning wine when they dine at partner restaurants, just for paying with their Citibank card. Gary will help us build recognition for, and awareness of, this exciting rewards program,” said Linda Duncombe, Director of Marketing, Digital and Customer Experience at Citibank Australia.
Gary Mehigan said, “I think this is a great program. I love the support it provides the restaurant industry in these tough times and I love that people can be rewarded by their bank.” He doesn’t take endorsement lightly and has been a happy Citibank customer for 10 years.
Gary said the program is simple. “All you need to do is let your waiter know you’re a Citibank cardholder when you order at one of the partner restaurants. You will be given a choice between a red or white bottle of award-winning wine to enjoy with your meal,” explains Gary. “I’m proud my restaurants are part of the program.”
The restaurants in the program range from top-end hatted restaurants to local family favourites. Restaurants in the program include Peter Gilmore’s Quay, Martin Benn and Vicki Wild’s Sepia in Sydney, Guy Grossi’s Grossi Florentino in Melbourne and Philip Johnson’s e’cco Bistro in Brisbane.
