“The DVD shows my passion for encouraging young people to cook and have fun in the kitchen… this is a real scrape-the-bowl, get-your-hands-dirty kind of fun and kids love it!” say Stephanie Alexander.
This Christmas, the perfect kids’ gift is one that gives twice! The kids cooking DVD, “Real Kids, Real food with Stephanie Alexander” will help Matchbox to donate over $60,000 to The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation.
The proceeds from the DVD will provide much needed supportto the Foundation as they continue to grow the ‘pleasurable food education revolution’ in primary schools across Australia. By 2012 the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program will be placed in almost 260 primary schools;teaching over 34,000 students aged 8 – 12 how to grow, harvest, prepare andshare fresh, seasonal food.

A must for the Christmas wish-list, the limited edition DVD, including recipe booklet, will be available until the end of Christmas from Matchbox stores for $14.95 with any purchase. The DVD features Stephanie sharing the spotlight with students from the innovative program, demonstrating just how easy it is for kids to cook delicious meals including home-made pasta and gnocchi from scratch.
Providing a step-by-step visual ‘how to’ of five mouth-watering recipes, the DVD shows children undertaking all aspects of preparingthe meals including picking fresh produce from the garden and using equipmentsuch as sharp knives safely in the kitchen.
It is a well-known fact that lifelong eating habits are developed early. One of the greatest pleasures of the program is seeing previously fussy eaters experiment with foods they have grown or prepared themselves.”
Matchbox managing director, David Cohen says “Matchbox is afamily business so we’re thrilled to be encouraging parents across Australia to get cooking with their kids. The DVD is a great gift that brings into the home the values, skills and knowledge from the Kitchen Garden Program, helping to develop life-long, joyful and healthy eating habits.”
