Inside Cuisine joins Laphroaig whisky LIVE (webcast) in SYDNEY

JOIN US in a Southern Hemisphere first, Australia’s third largest single malt whisky, Laphroaig, will broadcast its famous annual whisky program live from Australia.

Taking place on Sydney’s famous harbour with the iconic Opera House as a backdrop, Laphroaig Live 2011 will be the program’s 5th annual show. Over 100,000 whisky fans around the world have already enjoyed previous Laphroaig Live broadcasts from Jerez, Kentucky, Islay and London, and this year looks set to be the most exciting event to date.

Laprhoaig Distillery Manager, John Campbell, who will be flying into Sydney for the event, commented that Australia has significant meaning for the brand.

“Laphroaig was founded in 1815 by Alexander Johnston and his brother, Donald, who together developed the unique flavour of Laphroaig that is adored by whisky fans all over the world,” Campbell said.

“In 1836, Alexander sold his share of the distillery to Donald for £350 and set sail for Australia to start a new life with his family. Now, we are very excited to be bringing Laphroaig Live to the country that Alexander chose to be his home.”

Joining Campbell for this historic event will be Alexander’s great-great-great granddaughter Lin Johnston, Master Blender Robert Hicks, author Rebecca Varidel from Inside Cuisine and a small number of invited guests and Friends of Laphroaig.

No Australian celebration would be complete without a barbeque. To mark the occasion, guests will be treated to a traditional Aussie barbeque, marinated in a unique Laphroaig Barbeque Sauce, specially created for this event.

Andrew Skehan, Brand and Business Director, Beam Global Australia, is looking forward to bringing Laphroaig Live down under.
