Baroque Bistro Patisserie steps into spring

I’d had one of those days. I’m sure you know the type. If I had been going anywhere else I would have cancelled. Too many nights out, not enough sleep – all good food though – poor thing I hear you say.

The occasion was the second of the Les Quatre Saisons de BAROQUE incorporating the beautiful baroque music of Vivaldi’s four seasons to welcome in the spring. The venue of course was Baroque Bistro 88 George Street The Rocks.

As I’d been to the first of these seasonal dinners in winter, I knew what was in store and didn’t want to miss out. What I did miss though was charging my camera battery so here you are with my description but borrowed photos from the night.

Amuse Bouche

At this very special preview, we were amongst the first to taste the new 2011 Spring Menu for Baroque Bistro, and Head Wines 2010 signature vintages which are yet to be released.

Head Chef Peter Robertson guided us through his very tasty menu, and Head Pastry Chef, Jean Michel Raynaud gave us the first tastes of his new seasonal macarons.

Chef Jean Michel Raynaud’s talented hand is not just about his stunning macarons (though in my humble opinion they are the best in Sydney) and when I said goodnight to him, he asked me what I thought of the citrus tart. It was light and creamy, not too tart not too sweet. How did Goldilocks put it? It was JUST RIGHT!
