Ocean Room Sake masterclass Sydney: September 13 + 14th

Following on from sell-out success of the 2010 sake event at Ocean Room’s first sake masterclass last year. I’m excited to announce that Ocean Room has again joined with sake master Toshi Maeda for the 2011 SAKE MASTERCLASS instalment this September. Taking place on the 13th and 14th of September, this interactive food and sake matching dinner event will marry five courses of chef Raita Noda’s modern Japanese cuisine with Maeda’s handpicked selection of sake offerings – all for $125 per person.

The degustation looks to capture the essence of the spring season, showcasing fresh, vibrant ingredients and warming sake offerings.

Guests of this appreciation evening will be given the opportunity to taste, explore and enjoy a range of spring synergies alongside chef Noda and Maeda. With a focus on spring produce, the five-course degustation menu has been designed to showcase Ocean Room’s distinctive brand of modern Japanese cuisine and chef Noda’s gastronomic innovation. Each of the dishes has been expertly matched to a selection of the finest sakes from the northeastern region of Tohoku, in Japan. The region, with its cold climate and abundance of fresh water, is known for producing some of the world’s best sake. From the rich 12-month-old Ranman Hanaranman Komachi Daijinjo to the dry and sweet Asabiraki Junmai Ginjo, Maeda will offer an impressive insight to this popular Japanese beverage.
