Last Thursday night I watched the first episode of a mother and son’s culinary journey – Lyndey & Blair’s Taste of Greece. But the journey and its filming would prove much more than that. I wanted to watch, was very moved, but wasn’t sure that I could. Not long before these shows went to air Blair Milan passed away unexpectedly from acute myeloid leukemia.
I don’t know how I’d feel. I wasn’t sure if I should write this. There’s something unnatural in the order of things for a mother to loose her son. And even as I write this I am deeply saddened for my friend Lyndey Milan.
Lyndey says she has mixed emotions about the show. “Mixed because it is both desperately sad, but also wonderfully joyful in that I was able to film it with Blair.”
The show is delightful, entertaining, and informative, a road trip around the beautiful Peloponnese, engaging with locals, discovering food, wine and archaeology with a bit of adventure thanks to Blair, so bringing it all to life in a way which will suit any age group. Blair is charming, energetic, humorous and characteristically upbeat. Lyndey says she hopes “this show will be the most wonderful testament to his ability and character.”
Lyndey & Blair’s Taste of Greece went to air on SBS last Thursday 26 May at 8pm and will be shown on SBS every Thursday night until 7 July.
