Prosecco Road King Valley Victoria

King Valley Prosecco Road is a new wine and food trail in North East Victoria Australia – which enjoys the combined support of all of the six winemakers of the region. While I didn’t have the opportunity to stop off on my recent Sydney-Melbourne-Sydney roadtrip, I’ll be back exploring more of this area as soon as I can. I’ve been a frequent visitor to my much loved Milawa gourmet region as the northern boundary of the new fifty kilometre trail. The road meanders south through the King Valley to Cheshunt as the southern border.

The news tonight however, comes from the Sydney where Tourism Victoria provided the opportunity to discover more about the Victorian region and to meet with three of the Prosecco wine making families before my trip.

The charming patriach Otto Dal Zotto was most welcoming at A Tavola Darlinghurst for a generous Italian family meal with the group of guests and two of his four sons. Christian says he can’t wait to introduce me to his mum. It’s like that! The Italian family is filled with passion for what they do and their achievements and heritage. It’s just over ten years since Otto Dal Zotto, inspired by a childhood growing up in the Italian town of Valdobbiadene, the birthplace of Prosecco, planted the first vines in the King Valley. Now, the region claims the title as the largest producer of Prosecco in the country.

Rebecca Varidel was a happy guest of Tourism Victoria.
